White Cap Participates in OSHA’s 2022 Safety Stand-Down Week

White Cap associates celebrated OSHA’s Safety Stand-Down Week from May 2-6 and reinforced our Unwavering commitment to safety in a big way!

Safety Stand-Down Week is an annual voluntary event for employers to talk to their employees about safety, with the goal of preventing falls in construction.

In 2022, White Cap held its biggest Safety Stand-Down Week yet! Our associates hosted or attended more than 280 events and trained nearly 44,000 contractors in 27 states on jobsite safety. Throughout the week, our Product Safety Specialists, alongside our top suppliers, performed safety training on fall protection, PPE, ladder safety, tool safety, dust removal and more.

For example, White Cap Safety Specialist Leigh Stadelmeier participated in leading fall protection demonstrations. He was once a victim of a traumatic fall while serving in the Army, so he now has a passion for training construction employees to help prevent falls like his.

Falls from elevation were the leading cause of death for construction employees in 2020, accounting for 351 of the recorded 1,008 construction fatalities, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“I want to give them a fighting chance to survive a fall,” says Leigh.

“We want you to be able to go home at the end of the day,” Leigh tells the workers at the demos. “We don’t care what you use, as long as you use the correct equipment.”

Thank you to Leigh and everyone who participated. These demonstrations and events are just another way White Cap is Building Trust on Every Job.
